I am not so sure that art or plays reflect what a person is going through. There are probably some plays out there that are about a person's life or what is happening to them at that moment, but most plays are made up with a little bit of experience mixed in, but not the entire play. I think that art, like paintings, could possibly be about self reflection, but to me art is more something that looks pretty, not a way of expressing yourself. I think if you were a poet, then that type of art would be self reflecting and would be more what you are going through at that moment in time. In Hamlet, the lines that he submitted to the players is obviously something that is going on in Hamlet's life right now, but the whole play is not all about Hamlet or the lives of others. It is just a play to make people laugh or keep them entertained. Nothing self reflecting.
